James Taylor Makes Free Online Fingerpicking Videos

Singer-songwriter James Taylor is known for writing many classic compositions that are still being performed 40 years after they were written. “Fire and Rain.” “Country Road.” “Shower the People.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and multiple Grammy winner also happens to be one of the great guitarists.

He has such a unique finger-picking style that he decided to record a series of free online video guitar lessons to help fans get a closer look. Lessons are available at his jamestaylor.com website. He started the project in late 2010 and releases new videos occasionally. This week, Taylor releases his sixth lesson, the intro to the lesser-known 1997 song Enough to be On Your Way, and hopes to have three more lessons out this year.

Just fantastic. What a guy.

And they are really smartly filmed, and narrated, so you can actually see and understand what he’s doing. Wow.
