    The 1st concert I saw was a college band playing outdoors. I was not in school, yet, and don’t remember it, but my mother has told, oh so many people, how I stood behind the director and directed along with him Now I’m an amateur musician. The 1st I remember was Al Hirt with Candid Camera’s Alan Funt on vibes.

    There were concerts three nights in a row. I don’t remember who played first or even the first night, but some of the acts were The Turtles, Tommy James and the Shondells, ? and the Mysterians and Judi Miller. There were several more that I can’t remember.

    I think the first one I attended was The Statler Brothers. although, there was one concert which featured two established stars whon I cannot remember now, sandwiching an up-and-coming performer named Barbara Mandrell — who immediately knocked Lynn Anderson out of the position of favorite female artist. I still have her autographed photo.
